Galba and Tarraco : on Suetonius' Galba XII, 1.
In his French translation of Suetonius' Galba, XII, 1, H. Ailloud did not pay enough attention to the technical character of the vocabulary used by the As a result, there are errors of interpretation and the historical importance of the text is distorted. In Suetonius' work, the psychological portraits of Roman do not correspond to abstract models ; they are expressive of actual between individuals and the reality of imperial politics. This paper aims to point out the need for fruitful collaboration between philologists and historians in their search for new approaches to Roman political history.
