The Impact of the MilkLife Soccer Challenge Event on the Development of Early Age Women’s Soccer in Semarang City

This study was based on the limited number of youth women’s soccer competitions in Indonesia, which has resulted in suboptimal athlete training and development. These limitations make competitive events an urgent necessity for enhancing competitive experience, motivation, and early talent identification. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the impact of the MilkLife Soccer Challenge event on the development of young female soccer athletes in Semarang City. The study employed a descriptive qualitative method with 15 athletes, 3 coaches, and 1 PSSI Semarang City official selected through purposive sampling. Data collection techniques included interviews, observations, and documentation, with data analysis using the Miles and Huberman model. The results indicate that this event has a positive impact, marked by increased motivation and interest in training, greater competitive experience that supports the improvement of technical skills, and the identification of athletic talent. Additionally, there has been an increase in female student participation in soccer. These findings indicate that competitions play a strategic role in strengthening the ecosystem for the sustainable development of women’s soccer.
