Eminent Women Psychologists of India-A Historical and Pedagogical Primer

View through CrossRef
Over the past years, there has been numerous discourses on decolonizing Psychology, and one of the ways to achieve this is perhaps through teaching. This article is an endeavor in contributing to such discourse through teaching the contributions of Indian women in Psychology. Based on feminist citation praxis, I first discuss the invisibility of women psychologists in both research and curriculum, and the efforts of Indian women psychologists historically. Then, I draw attention to the contributions of a few women psychologists of India, and the ways in which their works can be taught as a short chapter in psychology or interwoven with different concepts within the curriculum. I conclude by highlighting the importance of curating biographies of women psychologists in India and the Global South and reflect on the inclusion of work from different marginalities.
