Un exemple de fossilisation forestière : le vicus du Bots de la Tourette, commune de Blond (Haute-Vïenne)

An example of wooded fossilisation : the vicus of Bois de la Tourette, commune of Blond (Haute-Vienne) At the feet of Blond mounts, the wood of La Tourette encloses the ruins of a gallo-roman vicus bordering on an itinerary of antic origin joining Augustoritum (Limoges) to Lemonum (Poitiers), and contiguous at ditches and holes which are the remains of spacious mining exploitations. Geology, botany, toponymy and archaeology have been set to work for the study of the site and illustrate the interdisciplinary method adopted, in Limousin, by the Direction of Historic Antiquities and the U.E.R. of literature and human Sciences of the University.
