Problems of the History of Adyghe literature, criticism and enlightenment in the research of Academician A. H. Hakuashev

The article highlights the problems of the Adyghe literary process, the scientific resolution of which was carried out in the works of a prominent scientist and teacher Andrei Khanashkhovich Hakuashev (1929-2022), who made a significant contribution to the formation of the Adyghe (Circassian) International Academy of Sciences, being the academician-secretary of its historical and philological department. Among the multifaceted activities of the scientist, the article focuses on the issues of restoring the biography and creativity of the Adyghe enlightenment writers of the XIX century, literary criticism, creativity, classics of Kabardian literature by A. A. Shogentsukov, extensive journalism, as well as work on the creation of curricula, textbooks and teaching aids for schools and universities. The facts of A. H. Hakuashev's biography, which influenced his research and teaching activities, are also touched upon. The evaluation and merits of the scientist in the formation of the Adyghe literature and personnel training were also noted.
