In Chapter Eight, Elena Caoduro’s reflects upon Harron’s use of costume design in American Psycho, Alias Grace, and the short film Armani, a promotional work for the fashion designer Giorgio Armani. Caoduro argues fashion has been integral to Harron’s work, detailing the significance of costume design with regard to the actor’s body, character, and facilitating the development of the story. Caoduro ultimately problematizes the notion of “authored fashion film”, arguing that Harron’s collaboration with the designer challenges sole-authorship within filmmaking.
