Image of medieval Helsingborg. Oil painting on masonite in glass and gray wooden frame. The painting is based on the “Braunska style,” the oldest known depiction of Helsingborg from 1580. On that occasion, the medieval churches were razed, with the exception of the Mariakyrkan/The Spring Wife Church. On the painting, however, Gisela Trapp has annexed to these and their patron saint. At the top of the left, the Church of Clemens is visible with St Clemens, in front of the Core is the Archangel Mikael when he is chasing off the eighth at St Michael’s Chapel, which was located in the ring wall around Helsingborg Castle. At the top edge of the board is St Petri’s church with St Peter, a little down to the right in the Dominican Convention St Nicolai, with a Dominican monk or possibly the Holy Dominique and the Convent Patron Saint Nicolaus. The chapel of the Holy Cross is visible on the far right. This is mentioned in medieval sources, but some traces of it are not known but it is believed to have been in the southern part of the medieval city center. Nedanör is seen as St Olof - long thought St Olofskyrkan was south of the city centre, but it is now considered that it was just west of the Dominican Convention. Central to the picture is the Church of Mary as the patron saint. Gisela Trapp performed this painting in three identical copies. One is in the possession of the Catholic Church, one is in the Church of Mary.
