Margherita Costa a Parigi: La selva di Diana

Poet and virtuosa, Margherita Costa practiced her polygraphy in many literary genres and published a considerable number of works that remain little known to this day. The paper aims to investigate her first Parisian work, La Selva di Diana, published in 1647, upon her arrival in the French capital. La Selva, which contains texts composed in the Roman period, therefore preceding the French sojourn, was to constitute her “access pass” to the French court, which represented a new beginning for the poetess. The work is dedicated to the Savoy princess Cristina, sister of the king of France, presents only female characters, in which the Costa continuously hybridizes poetic invention with autobiography.
