تعالج هذه المقالة مؤلفات ثلاثة من الكتاب الذين تناولوا شخصية فاطمة بنت محمد خلال القرن العشرين, في عقود مختلفة ومن زوايا رؤية مختلفة. ان التفاصيل القليلة التي تزودنا بها المصادر الكلاسيكية عن شخصية فاطمة قد اتاحت المجال واسع ا للتأويل. المؤلفون الثلاثة الذين نتناولهم: هنري لامنس, بنت الشاطئ )عائشة عبد الرحمن( واسيا جبارو يستخدمون هذا المجال حتى منتهاه ويرسمون صورة لفاطمة وفقا لتجربتهم الشخصية وقناعاتهم وغاياتهم السياسية وتعالج المقالة التفاسير المختلفة وتقارن بينها لاظهار زاوية اخرى من الخطاب المعاصر عن الفترة التكوينية للاسلام بشكل عام, وعن النساء في الاسلام المبكر بشكل خاص.
