July 13–14—This very moderate disturbance began with small, sharp movements in all three elements at 08h 00m GMT, July 13. The initial impulse was not as abrupt as those usually classed as sudden commencements, since it took but three minutes for completion;nevertheless the impulse undoubtedly marked the beginning of the storm. The only noteworthy feature of the disturbance was a large increase in westerly declination between 12h 14m and 12h 28m, July 13, amounting to 16′.3. Slightly disturbed conditions prevailed until 18h, July 14.
