Seismic characteristics and development model of carbonate platform in xisha Islands-contrast with Maldives archipelago
View through CrossRef
Xisha Islans lies in the northern continental margin of the South China Sea(SCS) and develop carbonate platform from Miocene, which has the similar condition with Maldives archipelago where reef and carbonate platform flourishing and lot data are collected(Wu Shiguo et al. 2006, Wei Xi et al. 2006). Study on development model of carbonate platform in Xisha Islands is important to the next exploration stage in surrounding area and can also solve the scientific hot point about the SCS. In this study we used lot new 2D seismic data in and besides Xisha Islands to block out the distribution of carbonate platform in every stage. Besides, we identified the seismic characteristics of different phase belt of carbonate platform and different type of reef in this area, as lot of information are contained in this differences. And at last we proposed a simple development model of carbonate platform in Xisha Islands.
