There is a question that everyone always asks with wonder, what is Kerala Tribal Congress? What is Tribal Congress for? The answer is very simple. The aim of this is to pass on the inexhaustible mine of knowledge acquired by the tribal community over time to the new generation. By organizing regular conferences, seminars, debates, literature festivals in different tribal areas, new researchers of the new era are brought to the field. To proclaim the superiority, characteristics and greatness of tribal culture to the world.
We only see the tribal world of poverty and misery created and spread by the newspapers and social media, but no one knows that the tribes are actually a large group with independent technologies, political life, social life, an independent empire and culture.. The tribes have their own various fields of knowledge. The field of knowledge of tribal art literature, which includes dance, song, kooth, oral literature and tribal drama. The field of knowledge of botany, which has a good understanding of the many vines, trees, leaf tubers, mushrooms, plants and fruits in the forest, their characteristics and their ethno medical importance, is the zoological knowledge that preserves the knowledge of the characteristics of animal diversity, including birds, insects, worms, animals and fish. The folk knowledge domain of the tribal community, which contains stories and myths, is a vast knowledge domain of the forest cuisine, which includes roots, leaves, mushrooms, honey, wild fruits, fish, animals and their traditional way of cooking, The knowledge domain of hunting and gathering, pastoral life, knowledge of shifting cultivation, settled agriculture techniques basketry, pot making, tribal smithy, woodwork, tribal constructions and many other techniques.
If you look closely, there are botany, zoology, anthropology, medical knowledge, the world of art, the world of architecture, the world of food, the world of literature, the world of technology and engineering, the world of culinary, and the folk knowledge domain within the forest.
Research on these tribal knowledge domains continues to produce children or researchers who create knowledge for the future conducting such studies in the right emic perspective is one of the most essential things for the world of knowledge.
Through the Kerala Tribal Congress, the importance of the tribal knowledge domain is made known to the new generation and new researchers and the dignity and grandeur of tribal culture are presented.
This project can also create a new awareness about the need for development, the importance of equality, the respectful behavior we should show towards the tribal world.
This project proposes various continuations of research, starting from continuous conference series, seminars, and discussions, brainstorming sessions, etc. Universities, colleges and other institutions in Kerala can be a part of such activities related to the tribe. We provide necessary financial and academic support. Build knowledge about the tribe in the new generation of children. Stand with them to build knowledge. That is what we intend to do through the Kerala Tribal Congress.
Knowledge about the food world is one of the most important things in the field of tribal knowledge. Health and disease come in its continuation. Disease treatment and its characteristics are analyzed. The second phase of the Tribal Congress in 2025 is being completed in collaboration with the Zoology Department of SN College, Alathur.
The Kerala Tribal Congress is confident that it will be able to bring the unknown areas of the tribe into the mainstream, such as knowledge, equality and respect.
This proceeding book is a glimpse of that.
