The watercolour has belonged to Nils Johan Söderberg, born in 1851 in Hanebo, Asingland, cathedral sloman in Uppsala and Hilda Maria Söderberg, born Rettig in Gävle in 1851. They lived in the Staircase in Uppsala, had several children, including the donor’s father Edvard Söderberg, active as an official at the Swedish Parliament. Edvard Söderberg was married to Märta, born Schalén. The family lived on Östermalm in Stockholm.
The donor Gerda Weiss, was born Söderberg in Stockholm on 13 November 1924. She worked as a deaconissa at Ersta. Joined at the age of 50 with Axel Weiss. In the years 1972 - 1980 Axel Weiss was a commissioner in Viker’s parish, West Manland (Örebro county). Gerda remained in the rectory in Nora until his death in June 2006. Gerda Weiss had no siblings and inherited many in the genera. The art Gerda Weiss bequeathed to the Upplandsmuseet hung in the large hall of the vicarage. Gerda Weiss thought the art would return to Uppsala.
