Integration of Empiricism, Rationalism, and Postivism in Arabic Language Teaching: a Philosophy of Education Approach

View through CrossRef
This study examines the integration of three philosophical schools—empiricism, rationalism, and positivism—in Arabic language teaching to develop a holistic and effective pedagogical approach. The scope of the study includes an analysis of the contributions of each philosophical school to Arabic language education, which has traditionally been fragmented in its application. Empiricism emphasizes sensory experience (John Locke), rationalism focuses on logical reasoning (René Descartes), and positivism prioritizes objective verification (Auguste Comte). The research aims to formulate an Arabic teaching model that integrates these three paradigms, ensuring that learning is both theoretically grounded and practically applicable. The methodology employed is library research, involving the analysis of written sources such as philosophical works, academic journals, and relevant books. The findings reveal that integrating these three philosophical approaches can create a balanced teaching framework. Empiricism is applied through project-based learning (PjBL), rationalism through multidimensional text analysis, and positivism through data-driven evaluation. This integrated approach has been shown to enhance students' grammatical understanding, critical thinking skills, and practical language proficiency. In conclusion, the integration of empiricism, rationalism, and positivism in Arabic language teaching offers a comprehensive solution to pedagogical challenges. This study provides a relevant philosophical framework for curriculum development and teaching methods while promoting a humanistic approach to education.
