Praise to the Greatness of God: Reading of Psalm 8 as an Ode
View through CrossRef
Psalm 8 is a deep personal reflection on the deeds of God by King David. This paper examines Psalm 8 from the lens of an Ode. The study reveals that Psalm 8 addresses and praises God enumerating his attributes as well as his exploits in creation. The contents of the Psalm qualifies it as an ode. The author employs imagery as an attribute of ode to portray the laudable qualities of God, who is being praised. The study concludes that Psalm 8 is meditative on the creative acts of God, hence a call on people to praise and reverence God.
