View through CrossRef
This study used the Livelihood Vulnerability Index (LVI) as a method for assessing relative vulnerability of communities to climate change impact. This index consists of seven main components including: socio-demographic profile, livelihood strategies, social networks, health, food, water and natural disasters-climate. Each was made up of several indicators or sub-components. The research was based on the average values of the major components in the LVI to provide the LVI - IPCC that is formed from three elements, including: exposure, adaptability and sensitivity. Data were collected through interview 145 fishermen in Huong Phong Commune, Huong Tra District, Thua Thien Hue Province. The results showed that the LVI - IPCC at the study case is 0.017, which means that the vulnerability of locals under climate change impact is pretty high. In addition, the study also pointed out that the exposure to the impact of climate change in the locality is almost high, reaching at 0.473. However, the results found that the sensitivity was moderate and the adaptability to climate change was fairly good, whose values were recorded at 0.136 and 0.306, respectively.
