A model for determining the rational periodicity of automotive equipment maintenance, taking into account the intensity of use
View through CrossRef
Modern commercial trucks operate with high annual mileage. To optimize operating costs, vehicle maintenance intervals should be set based on the intensity of use — average annual mileage. This approach to vehicle maintenance management should be considered by manufacturers when developing performance requirements for new and upgraded production vehicles, and then implemented in operation. However, the traditional approach to designing intervals based on expert methods raises questions regarding the validity of the resulting decisions and therefore should be supplemented by computational models to obtain adequate results, making this research topic relevant. The proposed methodology for calculating rational vehicle maintenance intervals based on average annual mileage is based on the classical technical and economic method of optimizing (minimizing) the function of total specific costs for maintenance and repairs. The initial data includes the maintenance schedule and rates, the level of repair costs, the desired ranges of annual mileage and intervals, and the vehicle’s operating period. A novel feature is the relationship between the maintenance interval corresponding to the minimum of the total specific costs function and the annual mileage.
