Untitled (From the Serial Structures series)

View through Europeana Collections
In the early 1970s, Davou abandoned painting on the block to devote herself to three-dimensional constructions and environments. She studied the structure of computer programs and their mechanical parts to present works in which electronic circuits and serial structures (Fibonacci sequence) were the basic conditions of communication. Soon the correct discourse of mathematical language was transformed into poetic and lyrical expression. One of the examples of this period is the work "Untitled" (From the Series of Serial Structures), in which the artist adapts this code onto a white upright column, which is structured pictorially by the sequence.
