Physical Mechanism of Chaos in Thyristors and Coupled-Transistor Structures

Electronic chaos in thyristors was observed by ac signal excitation of the anode of thyristors. The origin of this chaotic phenomenon was revealed by detailed measurement of the p-base potential, measurement with a coupled-transistor structure and the results of SPICE simulation. Chaos was generated by the return-mapping nature in the variation of the p-base potential. Chaotic behavior in a thyristor was also reproduced in the experimental coupled-transistor structure and in the results of SPICE simulation.
