MODERATING EFFECT OF SELF-CONTROL ON THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN INCIVILITY AND WORKPLACE DEVIANCE AMONG ACADEMIC STAFF IN NIGERIA

Dynamic nature of global operating environment has necessitates the building of competitive advantage of organization around the employees and this is largely attributed to workplace deviance behavoiur of employees emanating from organizations. This study empirically examined the moderating effect of disengagement on workplace incivility and deviance behavoiur of academic staff in Kaduna state. The study is based on primary data collected from 384 academic staff of Kaduna state university using structured questionnaire. The data was analyzed using the technique of SEM-PLS path analysis. The finding of this study revealed that workplace incivility significantly influence on Deviance Behaviour of Academic staff in Kaduna state University. Furthermore the findings indicated that self-control was significantly moderate the relationship between workplace incivility and workplace deviance of Academic staff in Kaduna state. The study concluded that self-control weaken the workplace deviance arising from workplace incivility.
