Unemployment Trends, Youth Participation, and Economic Stability in Contemporary Bangladesh

View through CrossRef
To conduct this research, This research focuses on understanding recent unemployment trends in Bangladesh and their impact on youth participation and economic stability. In recent years, unemployment has become a serious concern in the country, especially among young people and educated graduates. Although many youths complete higher education, they often struggle to find suitable jobs. This situation affects not only individuals but also the overall economic condition of Bangladesh. Therefore, it is important to study how unemployment influences youth involvement in the labor market and economic stability. The main objective of this study is to examine the relationship between unemployment trends, youth participation, and economic stability in contemporary Bangladesh. The research aims to identify the major causes of youth unemployment, such as skill mismatch, limited job opportunities, and slow industrial growth. It also explores how unemployment affects young people's motivation, career planning, income level, and contribution to national development. To conduct this research, both quantitative and qualitative methods will be used. Questionnaires will be distributed among unemployed and employed youth, including university students and recent graduates from different regions of Bangladesh. In addition, a small number of interviews will be conducted to understand personal experiences, challenges, and expectations related to employment. The collected data will be analyzed in a simple and descriptive manner to identify common patterns and trends. The findings of this study will highlight how unemployment reduces youth participation in productive economic activities and creates financial and social instability. It will also show how prolonged unemployment leads to frustration, underemployment, and increased interest in migration. Based on the findings, this research will suggest practical policy recommendations to improve employment opportunities and strengthen economic stability. Overall, this study will help policymakers, educators, and young people better understand the unemployment situation in Bangladesh and encourage effective strategies to promote youth employment and sustainable economic growth.
