Landscape of California. The Golden Gate Bridge

View through Europeana Collections
Henry Miller painted, as his daughter notes, mainly for pleasure and it was his way of relaxing. He made thousands of paintings, most of which he gave away, including a very large series of landscape paintings which included "Landscape of California. The Golden Gate in San Francisco" which is part of the collection of the MOMus Museum of Modern Art. In the work, figurative elements coexist with elements of abstraction, color, which is the structural element of the composition, and the small sharp touch in the individual depiction of the residential areas, creating a lyrical dreamlike atmosphere.
