Porträt Georg Friedrich Händel

This steel engraving emerged (probably indirectly) after the presentation of Thomas Hudson’s portrait of Handel from 1748/49, which is now in the state and university library Hamburg. It would also be possible that Wurster is guided by the steel engraving of Lazarus Gottlieb Sichling, as far as the picture section, facial parts and Jabot Händel is concerned. For the change on the right of the haircut, no model could be found so far. A colored varinate of Wurster Leaf has the collection Archive for Art and History in Berlin.
