MATERIALS FOR THE INSECT FAUNA OF THE SYRDARYA-TURKESTAN STATE REGIONAL NATURAL PARK
View through CrossRef
The scientific article considers materials based on the insect fauna of the Syrdarya no-Turkestan State Regional Natural Park. Syrdarya-Turkestan State Regional Natural Park is a specially protected natural area of local importance with the status of a legal entity located in the Turkestan region of Kazakhstan. A tugai deer nursery operates on the territory of the park. In 2000, an aviary was built with WWF funds in the Syrdarya floodplain, where the first 3 deer were brought in May 2001. Later, deer from the Karachingil hunting farm were additionally imported to the nursery. In 2005, due to flooding in the Syr Darya, the deer were relocated to the Shymkent Zoo, where part of the livestock died. More than a year later, the deer were returned to the enclosure. An embankment was built in the nursery to protect against repeated floods. In 2009, the first release of 10 animals into the wild was made. In the following years, the release of animals from the nursery continued. At the end of 2019, 158 deer lived on the territory of the Syrdarya-Turkestan Park: 83 animals in the enclosure and 75 in the adjacent territory. In 2020, the number increased to 174 individuals: 93 in the enclosure and 81 in the wild.
