Characterization of patients with chronic renal insufficiency in hemodialysis
View through CrossRef
ABSTRACTObjective: to characterize patients in dialysis, in a nephrology center in the western boundary region of Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil. Methods: this is about a descriptive, transversal study, from quantitative approach, with 32 patients in hemodialysis, assisted in the referred nephrology unit, who had accepted to be part of the study. The study was approved by the Ethics Committee of Universidade Federal de Santa Maria from number 02780243000-09. For data collection, it was used an instrument with variables of identification, socio-demographic, and also related to chronic kidney disease. Results: it was possible to observe that 59,3% of the patients were male, 64,5% aged 50 to 69 years; with incomplete primary school; retired; 67,8% are married; 53,3% patients undergo hemodialysis for less than 4 years; the intercurrences during hemodialysis are muscle cramp, hypotension and cold feelings. After hemodialysis, intercurrences are weakness, nausea and hypotension. Conclusion: results can become a management tool, encouraging the guiding of actions aiming to qualify the assistance to chronic renal patients.
