The porcelain figure is a replica of the Drummer monument, which was erected in 1916 before the district court in Zeitz. Hermann Thieme donated this monument in memory of the fighting during the wars of freedom in Zeitz. The creator of the monument was the sculptor Walther Schmarje. In front of the town hall of Berlin-Zehlendorf, the monument was installed in 1930.
In Zeitz today there is a work by artist Joachim Hering, who took up the drummer figure but reinterpreted it.
Our porcelain figure was created in the Schwarzburger workshops for porcelain art in Rudolstadt-Volkstedt. Another figure is inventoried under the number V/A - 648. (Museum Schloss Moritzburg Zeitz)
