This chapter continues to reveal Misty ’s hidden history. It explains the weekly process of putting the comic together, giving detailed information on its editorial team, its script fees and practices, and identifying a number of the Misty writers and creators, including Pat Mills, Wilf Prigmore, and editor Malcolm Shaw. Identifying and interviewing these creators is significant as the stories were uncredited and many have never spoken publically about their work. The chapter also reflects on Misty ’s framing and marketing as a ‘mystery paper’ rather than ‘horror comic’, and responds to gendered claims about its creators and contributors.It also includes the previously unseen script for “The Banana King,” a Pat Mills story that would become “Red Knee–White Terror!” ( Misty #1, with art by John Richardson), and analyzes this alongside the published version to demonstrate how the Misty tales were shaped around mystery and terror rather than outright horror.
