Changes in erythema UV radiation in the Czech Republic in the period 1996 to 2024
View through CrossRef
The doses of erythemal UV radiation in the Czech Republic have shown a clearly increasing and statistically significant trend since 1996. However, it is not primarily caused by decreases in total ozone. With the exception of July and August, total ozone does not show clearly decreasing trend. But there is a close connection between the increase in erythemal radiation and the energy sums of global radiation, which are strongly dependent on the duration of sunshine and therefore primarily on cloud cover. A neural model was trained to simulate the dependence of erythemal radiation on ozone and global radiation, with the ability to simulate the annual course of the dependencies between predictors and the predicant. Several experiments were subsequently performed with the model in order to distinguish the influence of individual predictors (ozone, global radiation) on erythemal UV radiation. These also confirmed that the decisive factor for the increase in erythemal UV radiation in the monitored period was not ozone, but the increase in the duration of sunshine.
