Into the Dark Forest: The Cinema of Lars von Trier

Born in 1956, Lars von Trier is Denmark’s most influential and internationally admired filmmaker since Carl Th. Dreyer. This chapter offers a detailed account of von Trier’s career, from a distinctive perspective: the director’s former tutor and mentor from his film school days, Peter Schepelern.
