Nikolaus Joseph Jacquin's enigmatic Icones selectarum stirpium americanarum (1797)

Nikolaus Joseph Jacquin's extremely rare Icones selectarum stirpium americanarum (1797) are shown to be a re-issue of the plates contained in Jacquin's Selectarum stirpium americanarum historia (1763) plus a new title page and three pages of revised captions. Like the original version this re-issue was published in Vienna and stands in accord with the liberalized regulations concerning the freedom of the press issued by Emperor Joseph II.
