The Father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman (1920-1975) was the pioneer of the war of independence, founder of an independent and sovereign Bangladesh, and the undisputed leader of the people of Bengal. In independent Bangladesh, for the first time, the promotion of Islamic values and religious awareness began during Mujibur Rahman's government. His heart was full of the belief in the liberalism of Islam, enlightened with the eternal example of cosmopolitanism, equality and friendship. The unique contribution he made to the propagation of Islam during three and a half years of his rule is rare in contemporary history. During his short reign, The Father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman took various economic, social and physical infrastructural steps for the overall well-being of the country and the nation. Apart from that, he took pragmatic and realistic measures to propagate Islam keeping in mind the religious sentiments and values of the Muslim majority people of Bangladesh. He made a clear and unequivocal statement about the correct articulation of Islamic and secular ideological values. Despite this, an alliance in the name of Islam is spreading propaganda at home and abroad calling Bangabandhu's liberal political philosophy and his party Awami League as anti-Islam. On the other hand, the other side is trying to degrade Bangabandhu among the religious people of the country by appointing him as a secularist. The Father of The Nation, Bangabandhu was a deep lover of Islam, which was revealed in all his works. His contribution to the development of religious awareness in Bangladesh cannot be denied.
