Expansion: Nuns across the Globe

Abstract The powerful image of women living in sacred cloistered spaces, dressed in their religious garb and veils, active in their spiritual and domestic duties, creative in all the arts, and sometimes endowed with mystical gifts, is now Wrmly established in our mind. There is, however, another equally powerful image which captures the nature of female monastic life: that of the founding nun. There are numerous examples of very determined nuns leaving their convents and moving to other cities, and even other countries, in order to found new communities.
