Figure, Fu Xing, Taoist Star God for Happiness. The Qing Dynasty

FIGURE. Fu Xing, one of the three Taoist star gods for happiness, high rank and long life. Standing, holding a gossechild next to his chest. Mustaches and Beards of Black Tail. The three Taoist star gods were connected by astrologers with planets and stars in the sky. They were popular in both temples and homes and can yet be seen in Chinese shops and restaurants. The figure in the middle is Shou Xing, the god for a long life, and he has an enlarged cranium which is signs of wisdom. He is an old man and holds a cane in one hand and one of the peaches of immortality in the other. Lu Xing, the god of high rank, holds a Ruyispira (for fulfilment of wishes) in one hand and he wears the official’s hat and rock. Fu Xing, the god of happiness, carries a little boy in his hands. Fu Xing and Lu Xing both have real hair inside the holes in their faces, which is to imagine lush beards, mustaches and police songs. Trion was bought at Bukowski’s 1910 and the parts were probably not produced long before. Purchased at Bukowski’s Art Trade 1910 together with XI: C.h.b.28 and 29 for 4.500 Kr.
