Članek je poskus etimološke interpretacije slovaš. nar. driňica ‘ograda; ograjen prostor’ (gl. Slovar slovaških narečij, geslo drienica). Po avtorjevem mnenju izhaja beseda iz prvotnega *drynьnica ‘ograda iz kolov ipd.’ izpeljanega iz psl. nar. *drynъ in rekonstruiranega po leksičnem gradivu vzhodnoslovanskih jezikov (rus. nar. dryn ‘palica, žrd, kol, gorjača’ idr.). Ni jasno, ali spada sem tudi rus. nar. zádrypa ‘brunasta ograja, brunasta stena’ (če gre za nepravilno branje zapisa *zádryna, od *zadrynit’ ‘zagraditi z drinami ipd.’?).
