View through CrossRef
Objective:
This study aimed to estimate the prevalence of, knowledge about, and practices related to allergic rhinitis (AR), along with its risk factors, among people in Bisha.
Methods:
A cross-sectional study was conducted in Bisha City, Saudi Arabia, involving all accessible adults aged 18 years and older. An online link was distributed using social media, leveraging the authors' professional networks, friends, and family, allowing voluntary responses from viewers in Bisha from November 2024 to January 1, 2025.
Results:
Of the total of 403 participants in the study, 219 (54.3%) had AR, 316 (78.4%) had adequate knowledge of AR, and 218 (54.1%) had bad or inappropriate practices toward AR. Age and adequate or bad practices were significantly associated with AR.
Conclusion:
This research highlighted a high prevalence of AR in Bisha. Although the population had adequate knowledge of the condition, certain demographics, particularly older individuals, were at a higher risk of developing AR. Additionally, individuals with adequate knowledge and those with poor management practices related to AR were more susceptible to the condition.
