Prêmio Rogelio Salmona: uma visão da arquitetura da América Latina?

In 2014 the Latin American Rogelio Salmona Award was launched in response to an international valuation system that used to marginalize Latin America architecture in competitions. Therefore, the award was an attempt to consider the Latin American territory by its own criteria with a selection of 60 buildings. Those buildings, however, also reproduced a relationship of domination between the center and the periphery. Considering the three editions promoted by the award, this paper discusses the center-periphery relationships into the region. Some buildings were analyzed by categories such as place, scale, use, and materials. As a result, one could perceive the sliding boundaries between the center and periphery, and also the significant role played by some buildings in the periphery.
