In July 2021, a salvage excavation was conducted west of Kibbutz Ma zz uva (Permit No. A-9068; map ref. 214580–900/774000–585; Fig. 1), following the discovery of quarrying marks during the inspection of construction works for a new neighborhood. The excavation, on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority, was directed by O. Zidan (field photography), with the assistance of Y. Gur (inspection), Y. Yaakobi (administration), Y. Shmidov (photogrammetry and field photography), R. Be’eri (guidance and consultation) and workers from Kafr Sha‘ab.
