Nuclear Repowering Interface Architecture (NRIA) | A Structured Framework for Coal to Nuclear Steam Cycle Repowering
View through CrossRef
Coal-to-nuclear repowering enables while preserving existing steam turbines, grid infrastructure, and balance Despite strong technical feasibility, large standardized integration architectures and clear nuclear This paper introduces the Nuclear Repowering Interface Architecture (NRIA), a structured classification framework that defines turbine thermodynamic requirements, permi integration architectures, interface boundaries, and derived nuclear heat performance requirements. The NRIA framework establishes a deterministic pathway from existing turbine characteristics to required reactor performance, enabling repeatable rep comparison across projects. The framework is conceptual and classification early-stage feasibility assessment, architecture selection, and deployment planning.
