W przedstawionej pracy skupiłam się na dorobku trzech artystów, którzy posługiwali się progowością, czyli liminalnością, jako strategią twórczą. Analizie poddałam dzieła: Stanisława Wyspiańskiego (1869–1907), Tadeusza Kantora (1915–1990) i Józefa Szajny (1922–2008). Każdy z wymienionych twórców był człowiekiem progu w rozumieniu Turnera, stojącym zarówno na styku epok historycznych, jak i wobec widocznej w kulturze zmiany estetycznej. Z Wprowadzenia
