Head of Apollo Belvedere, slightly tilted to the right (figure´s left). Full, oval face with high forehead. Deeply set, almond-shaped eyes with upper and lower eyelids indicated. Full lips, parted slightly by a small drill furrow. Face framed by hair, largely worked with a coarse drill all around the head, elaborately arranged in wavy strands tied with a fillet in a loose knot over the forehead. Base of neck cut for insertion into a statue. White, finely grained marble with a yellowish surface.
