The Epistemology of Adaptation in John Greyson's Lilies

John Greyson, dans son adaptation cinématographique de la pièce Les Feluettes de Michel Marc Bouchard, emploie une mise en scène novatrice pour aborder le discours dénonciateur de Bouchard et les conflits épistémologiques du drame. L’approche empruntée par Greyson réussit à dépasser le cadre limité de la pièce, mais se heurte souvent à des contradictions narratives qui ne peuvent être résolues que par l’utilisation de techniques conventionnelles. Greyson tire avantage de ce recours aux conventions en mettant l’emphase sur l’intertextualité du film, qui amalgame les pratiques radicales du théâtre gai et l’œuvre nostalgique de Stephen Leacock, Sunshine Sketches of a Little Town. Il résulte de cette combinaison frappante une analyse de l’hétéro-normativité qui a échappé à la majorité des critiques.
