Painting

The Artist Elias Fagerström, born in 1843 in Vånga, Kristianstad County. In “Households of Elias Fagerström” in Sweden’s Swedish Swedish Research Association’s CD “Sveriges Population 1890,” the family is living in Katarina rote 12, Barnängen less N: o 8. Under occupation/title stands: Painting workers. Seven children are in the family at this time. If the wife is noted: “The wife is n. n. in Gothenburg.” The artist executed decorative paintings at Uddevalla Theater, which was inaugurated on 15 September 1862, and burned down on 15 July 1958. In the memorial of Gustaf E. Karlson, “Uddevalla Theater 1862-1958,” published by Uddevalla Theater Limited Company in 1972, p. 27 reads as follows: "Mrs Elmér told me, among other things, that the salon’s decoration in red with white lobes and fan barriers - partly with gilding - was all the time unchanged. The chandelier was previously fitted with candles and had to be celebrated when they were lit before the beginning of the spectacle. It was then hoisted up again and had to shine all evening or until the end of the candle. Around the canopy was decorated with 12 s. A photo in the same book is probably of later date. The roof is visible, but that painting seems to lack both amorins and blooms. Perhaps it has been unpainted once more. In the newspaper Bohusläningen, 14 August 1912, the following is noted: "Deaths. Elder Elias Fagerström was prepared during his day at the age of 69. Fagerström devoted himself in the days of his power to the decoration painting, where he reached no skill. Uddevalla Theater Salon, Grand Hotel’s Great Hall and the High Wall, which forms the connection to sammma etablissements Trättings Father of the artist Amalia Fagerström - Millar.
