Efficacy of granular insecticides against sorghum stem borer, Chilo Partellus (Swinhoe) in Sorghum
View through CrossRef
AbstractSix insecticides and untreated control were evaluated against sorghum spotted stem borer, Chilo partellus, among these, emamectin benzoate 5% SG @ 9.5 g a.i./ha recorded significantly lowest per cent dead hearts (15.8% DH) followed by thiamethoxam 25% WG @ 25 g a.i./ha (16.5%), flubendamide 20% WG @ 25 g a.i./ha (17.6% DH), rynaxypyr 0.4% G @ 30 g a.i./ha (18.0% DH) which were on par with each other as compared to other treatments. The highest percentage of dead hearts was found in untreated control (32.9% DH). Rynaxypyr 0.4% G @ 30 g a.i./ha and thiamethoxam 25% WG @ 25 g a.i./ha had significantly lower leaf injury damage ratings and lower per cent stem tunnelling than other treatments (DR: 1.8 and 18.9%, respectively), followed by emamectin benzoate 5% SG @ 9.5 g a.i./ha (DR: 2.0 and 26.3%). The highest damage rating and percentage of stem tunneling was observed in untreated control (DR: 4.0 and 50.1%). Thiamethoxam 25% WG @ 25 g a.i./ ha (15.2 q/ha) produced significantly the maximum sorghum grain as compared to other treatments.

Thiamethoxam 25% WG @ 25 g a.
i.
