Comparison between the effects of Irbesartan and Benazepril on Ang II, ALD, TNFα and IL-6 among the elder patients with heart failure
View through CrossRef
Objectives
To study the effects of irbesartan and benazepril on Ang II, ALD, TNFα and IL-6 among the elder patients with heart failure.
Methods
92 patients with chronic heart failure were randomly divided into irbesartan treatment group and benazepril treatment group. Angiotonin II, aldosterone, TNFα and IL-6 were measured using radio-immunity before the therapies, after 3 months and 6 months.
Results
TNFα and IL-6 were decreased significantly in both treatment groups (p<0.01). In benazepril group, the level of Ang II was reduced at first and then increased (p<0.05), as well as aldosterone. In irbensartan group, the level of Ang II was somewhat increased (p>0.05), but the level of aldosterone was decreased significantly (p<0.01), which is more obvious than that in benazepril group.
Conclusions
The effects on improving neuroendocrine among chronic heart failure in irbesartan group were more significant than that in benazepril group.
