Watercoloured pencil drawing by Ernst Welker. Portrait August Emil Leopolds (1772-1822), Duke of Saxony-Gotha and Altenburg. The Duke is depicted as a peacock with portrait head. In addition to the title “Herzog von Gotha” and a verse under the picture, the left edge of the drawing has a large “P.” - subsequently marked with a cross in the title/name - The name “August” stands behind the cross and was later probably attached for further explanation
