Perspective în vederea menținerii unei imunități anti-pertussis pe termen lung | [Prospects for maintaining a long-term anti-pertussis immunity]

Bordetella pertussis, the etiologic agent of whooping cough, causes a highly contagious disease characterized by a noisy symptom with persistent, traumatic cough. This can cause complications and even death, especially in infants, and has spread worldwide becoming one of the more frequent vaccine-preventable diseases in industrialized countries. In the context of an upward trend in the incidence of cases, the recommendations for maintaining appropriate protection for a long time include administering a booster dose around the age of 11 and vaccinating pregnant women and people around them.
