Maria Kriara was born in 1982 in Heraklion. Inspired by her love for painting, art history and the history of ideas, she undertakes a form of research that relates to possible interconnections and relevance between images and stories that belong to the collective cultural consciousness, regardless of their origins. In 2018 he received the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Art Prize. She is a Ph.D. candidate at the Department of Architecture at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (A.U.Th.) and teaches visual arts at the Department of Architecture at the University of Ioannina.
