Quarry at Stora Bultebo, object 1030, photo from south In the spring of 2000, the Swedish Forestry Board started Mälardalen, district Noruppland, an inventory project called Skog and History in 2000. The work in 2000 concerned Film and Tegelsmora in North Uppland and in 2001 inventories were also started in Tierp and Valö parish in the same county. The people who participated in the project have not only gained a new knowledge. All participants have also shown the importance of getting out and meeting people. The feeling of being allowed to perform something that has a bearing on others has been very significant for the participants. All participants have expressed their desire to work on similar projects in the future. With the projects in 2000 and 2001, four sugars in Uppsala County have been fully or partially inventoried. It is a very small part of its surface. It would have a great protection and cultural historical value if further parts of the county were similarly inventoried. It is hoped that similar projects can already be made on a larger scale in 2002 and that more people can be seriously involved in the work. The material has a great importance for the involved organizations in its authority exercise and decision making but also on a local level for residents, various associations, schools, museums and tourism organizations. Various issues have been raised and discussed. An important discussion concerns what is to be classified as solid antiquity and how this concept is actually interpreted a little differently depending on who does it and where. Another question has moved what should be done with the submissions found. Apart from being made available in official records, questions remain about, for example, legal protection, care and enrollment. Is there a point in them remaining like the ruins they are? The still degradation that time may mean should be allowed to continue in a natural way without it even being desirable to discontinue the process.
