This interview presents the foundations of the work of semiotician Jacques Fontanille, as seen through the eyes of the author himself. A set of reflections on the history of Greimas-inspired Semiotics and its contemporary developments emerges from these exchanges, which took place between 2024 and 2025. Internationally recognized as a leading figure in semiotic research, Fontanille lays the groundwork, through his remarks, for the meeting between the reader and the world as semiosis. A number of new questions arise from the interviewee’s statements, in line with the purpose of Semiotics, understood both as a theoretical project and a practice.
