Reading Literary Classics and Cultivating Humanistic Literacy in University Language Programs

The purpose of this paper is to discuss the significance of reading literary classics in university language courses for the cultivation of humanistic literacy and its realization path. It analyzes the multi-level reasons for college students' alienation from literary classics through the re-understanding of literary classics, and then elaborates on the important role of reading literary classics in the enhancement of college students' humanistic literacy in terms of increasing humanistic knowledge, establishing life ideals, and improving moral cultivation. This paper emphasizes that university language courses should give full play to its humanistic features, and through guiding students to read literary classics in depth, promote students' all-round development and become new-age talents with noble sentiments and profound cultural background.
